USD/MXN Price Action Remains Neutral Amid Bond Market Uncertainty
A neutral environment is dominating USD/MXN price action, as evident in recent trading sessions. Over the last three sessions, the pair has registered a move of only around 0.2%, indicating indecision and lack of clear direction.
This neutrality can be attributed to the balance of forces between the Mexican peso and the U.S. dollar, which remains largely driven by the behavior of bond markets in both countries. The recent NFP report has shifted expectations surrounding the Federal Reserve, with stronger-than-expected employment data providing room for a more aggressive central bank.
As a result, U.S. government bonds are becoming increasingly attractive, with 10-year Treasury yields remaining near the 4.8% area, their highest level in 2026. Meanwhile, Mexican government bond yields remain relatively stable near 9.3%, offering higher returns for peso-denominated investments.
This combination may be limiting the ability of either currency to establish a dominant direction within USD/MXN and continues to explain part of the neutrality observed in recent sessions.
