The Venezuelan government and part of the opposition have announced plans to recover 31 tons of gold from the Bank of England, which has been blocked since 2018. This move comes as Venezuela faces a dire economic situation, with a monthly inflation rate of 19.9% and sovereign debts of approximately $240 billion.

The gold, valued at $4 billion, is crucial for the country's recovery after the devastating earthquakes in June that resulted in over 6,000 deaths. The government and opposition have agreed to collaborate on this effort, committing to focus on recovering assets from international reserves.

Negotiations are accompanied by guarantees of transparency to prevent the diversion of resources. The United States has suspended some sanctions and is working with Delcy Rodríguez, but the negotiations do not include María Corina Machado, creating divisions among supporters.
