Việt Nam and Canada Seek to Advance Comprehensive Cooperation
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Đặng Hoàng Giang welcomed Canadian Deputy Minister of International Trade Glenn Purves to discuss ways to strengthen and deepen their countries' Comprehensive Partnership.
Giang spoke highly of the significance of Purves' visit, which he believed would contribute to the advancement of bilateral ties in areas such as politics, economy, trade, investment, energy, transport, science and technology, education and training, and people-to-people exchanges.
The Deputy FM also affirmed that ASEAN considers Canada an important partner and supported efforts to conclude negotiations on the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement (ACAFTA), which would provide momentum for Canada's engagement with the region.
Purves reaffirmed Canada's regard for Việt Nam as an important partner in ASEAN and the wider Indo-Pacific region, agreeing to continue close coordination to promote high-level visits between the two countries and bring their relations to a new height.
