Vietnam Strengthens Ties with Australia and New Zealand through Enhanced Cooperation

General Secretary and President To Lam led a high-level delegation to Australia and New Zealand from August 9 to 14, 2026. This visit marked his first trip to these countries in his new capacity as General Secretary and President of Vietnam. The visit was significant as it elevated relations between Vietnam and both countries, with the establishment of Comprehensive Strategic Partnerships.

The meetings between leaders were characterized by an atmosphere of trust, openness, and substance. Australian and New Zealand leaders praised Vietnam's development achievements and highlighted their shared vision for regional cooperation. They emphasized that close ties with each other are crucial in addressing global challenges and advancing economic growth.

During the visit, several important agreements were signed to deepen cooperation in areas such as science and technology, innovation, education, human resources, trade, investment, green transformation, essential minerals, high-tech agriculture, and marine economy. These initiatives aim to create new opportunities for Vietnamese businesses and contribute to regional development.
