Vietnam's State Visits to Australia and New Zealand Create Fresh Momentum for Relations

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam's state visits to Australia and New Zealand created fresh momentum for elevating Vietnam's relations with both countries. The trip, which took place from August 9-14 at the invitation of Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn and New Zealand Governor-General Cindy Kiro, demonstrated the Vietnamese Party and State's high regard for their two important partners.

The visits achieved a high degree of success, with talks and meetings taking place in an atmosphere of trust, openness, and substance. The leaders of Australia and New Zealand reaffirmed the importance they attach to relations with Vietnam and spoke highly of its development achievements, leadership vision, and growing role in the region and internationally.

The trip identified new growth drivers for cooperation between Vietnam and both countries, including science and technology, innovation, education, trade, investment, green transformation, critical minerals, high-tech agriculture, and the marine economy. These areas are expected to expand Vietnam's strategic space, mobilize external resources for national development, and deepen its relations with Australia and New Zealand.
