Warsh May Use Jackson Hole to Clarify Fed Policy Framework Amid Inflation Risks
A recent report from TD Securities suggests that Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh may use the upcoming Jackson Hole Symposium to clarify the Fed's reaction function and broader policy framework.
The note, released by TD Securities strategist Oscar Munoz, highlighted concerns about communication following the latest FOMC meeting. The report stated that questions about the Fed's credibility emerged after the most recent meeting, citing a lack of clarity from Chair Warsh on how the Committee intended to lower inflation.
In response, Warsh may reset his communication strategy by providing clearer information on the Fed's reaction function and policy framework at Jackson Hole. According to TD Securities, greater clarity is seen as necessary to restore confidence in the chair's guidance and reduce reliance on comments from other Fed officials.
Meanwhile, a separate report from Nordea economists Ole Håkon Eek-Nielsen and Jan von Gerich expects the European Central Bank to deliver three additional 25 basis point rate increases, taking the deposit rate to 3%. The baseline assumes hikes in September, December, and March 2027.
