Warsh Prioritizes Inflation Control as Fed and Banks Tackle Economic Pressures
Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh emphasized the importance of inflation control in his first Jackson Hole address, stating that price stability is the Fed's predominant focus.
Twelve-month personal consumption expenditures (PCE) inflation stood at 3.7%, with a six-month annualized rate of 4.1%.
Warsh also suggested reducing reliance on routine forward guidance, arguing that repeated indications of future policy can leave markets dependent on the central bank and policymakers relying on market prices to interpret expectations.
