Warsh Signals Fed's Resolve on Inflation Amid Business Investment Surge
Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh reaffirmed the central bank's commitment to fighting inflation during his first address at the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium. He emphasized that the Fed still has work to do in bringing underlying inflation trends back down to the 2% target.
Warsh highlighted the resilience of both Main Street and Wall Street, noting that business capital investment is experiencing its highest growth rate since 2021. According to Christopher Chidzik, principal economist of AMT, The Association For Manufacturing Technology, a large portion of this growth can be attributed to AI.
The market for machine tools is also showing similar patterns, with growth at its highest pace since 2021. This has led some experts to believe that current interest rate levels may be the floor for the remainder of the year.
