US Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh emphasized the central bank's focus on maintaining independence from political influence during his first Congressional testimony since taking over as Fed Chair two months ago.

Warsh reiterated that inflation remains a pressing concern for the Fed, and members of the Committee have 'no tolerance for persistently elevated inflation' as they aim to restore price stability.

The Consumer Price Index increased 3.5% year-over-year in June, exceeding the Fed's 2% target.

CME Group's FedWatch tool shows a greater-than-90% probability that the federal funds rate will be higher at the end of this year, contradicting speculation that Warsh would lower interest rates sooner rather than later.
