Warsh Speech in Focus as Swiss Franc Consolidates Recent Losses
The Swiss Franc is consolidating its recent losses against the US Dollar as of Monday, but traders are eagerly awaiting Federal Reserve Governor Kevin Warsh's speech for fresh clues on the central bank's monetary policy trajectory.
Warsh, known for his hawkish leanings, will speak at a monetary policy forum later today, and markets will parse his comments for any hints about the pace of future rate hikes or balance sheet reduction. A more hawkish tone could boost the US Dollar, while a cautious stance might allow the Franc to recover.
The USD/CHF pair has stabilized after a period of volatility driven by shifting rate expectations and global risk sentiment. The Swiss National Bank (SNB) has kept rates unchanged at 1.75% since September, while the Fed has signaled that further hikes may be necessary, making USD-denominated assets more attractive.
The key driver for the Franc remains the interest rate differential between the SNB and the Fed. From a technical perspective, USD/CHF is trading above its 50-day moving average, suggesting short-term bullish momentum, but a break below support at 0.8800 could trigger a pullback.
