Despite market backlash, Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh is sticking to his communication strategy of keeping messages brief. According to the Financial Times, Warsh has acknowledged some mistakes in his early public communications but remains committed to reducing forward guidance given to markets.

The core of Warsh's strategy is to sharply reduce the amount of information provided about future monetary policy decisions. This approach has been criticized for failing to give clear signals on how the Fed would respond to inflation pressures caused by the Iran war and higher energy prices.

Markets have taken notice, with the 30-year Treasury yield reaching its highest level since 2007. However, inflation expectations remain relatively stable, with the inflation swap market pricing in an average inflation rate of 2.4% over the next five years.

Warsh is also open to a rate increase at the September Federal Open Market Committee meeting if inflation data comes in above expectations and market rate forecasts move higher. The CME FedWatch tool currently shows a 56.7% chance of a rate hike next month.
