Warsh under Pressure to Clarify Inflation and Interest Rate Views

New Federal Reserve chair Kevin Warsh has taken an unconventional approach to communicating the central bank's views on inflation and interest rates.

He has said much less than his predecessors about the economy, leaving many economists and Wall Street investors concerned about his stance on inflation-fighting policies.

Warsh is set to address these concerns in a speech at the Fed's annual economic symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. However, he may not provide the clarity that economists are looking for.

'What he needs to do is clarify the conceptual framework he'll bring to directing monetary policy,' said David Wilcox, a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. 'He's refused to provide even that amount of illumination.'
