Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh has reaffirmed the central bank's commitment to bringing down inflation, saying policymakers must be confident that it is slowing. In a speech delivered on August 29, 2026, Warsh emphasized that the Fed will return inflation to its 2 per cent goal, which he described as 'a firm and fixed target.'

Warsh's comments come as inflation remains a pressing concern for policymakers. He warned that if policymakers are not confident that inflation is meaningfully slowing, there is still work to be done by the central bank.

The Fed has been closely monitoring inflation rates, which have been above its 2 per cent target in recent months. Warsh's speech marked his first since becoming chairman of the central bank in May.
