Warsh Walks Thin Line Between Markets and the White House
US Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh has maintained open lines of communication with President Donald Trump since taking office, highlighting his delicate balance between serving the White House and managing market expectations.
According to reports, Trump hasn't directly pressured Warsh to lower interest rates but rather sought his advice on matters such as the Iran war and AI, suggesting that Warsh is proactively engaging with the President to avoid perceptions of a rift between the Fed and the administration.
The Wall Street Journal noted that while Trump has made it clear he prefers lower interest rates, his repeated praise for Warsh implies that he could be comfortable with an independent central bank led by 'his guy.'
