Warsh Warns Inflation Indicators 'More Concerning'
U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh expressed concern over recent U.S. inflation trends, signaling a readiness to take additional measures if necessary.
In his keynote address at the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium in Wyoming on August 28th (local time), Warsh stated that 'the underlying trend cannot be viewed as having meaningfully improved.'
The Fed Chair emphasized the importance of confidence in achieving the inflation target, saying 'we must have confidence that underlying inflation is moving toward our target at a clear and sufficient pace. Otherwise, we have work to do.'
Warsh also noted that current financial conditions could hardly be described as restrictive, implying potential further tightening and interest rate hikes.
