Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh emphasized that inflation must be the central bank's main focus in his speech at the Kansas City Fed's economic policy symposium. He stated that price stability should be the Fed's predominant concern, citing that the current inflation rate of 3.7 percent is above their target of 2 percent.

Warsh also criticized the overreliance on forward guidance, saying it has lasted too long in normal times and can distort market signals. He proposed using current data instead of stale news and treating 2 percent PCE inflation as a firm target.

The Fed Chairman highlighted the impact of financial innovation, particularly artificial intelligence, which is changing the economy's supply side. He announced the formation of a task force on productivity and jobs to study how AI may affect output, labor demand, and returns on capital.
