The annual Jackson Hole conference wrapped up in Wyoming as Federal Reserve policymakers and experts gathered to discuss the state of the economy. In his keynote speech, Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh emphasized that curbing inflation is their top priority, sparking a jump in expectations for a near-term rate increase.

Warsh's remarks suggested that the central bank will take action if they're not confident that underlying inflation is moving towards their objective of 2%. This has led to speculation about an impending interest rate hike, with some investors looking ahead to the next round of consumer inflation data due on September 11.

Policymakers from the European Central Bank also weighed in on the discussion. ECB Governing Council member Primoz Dolenc expressed concern that resilience in the euro area's economy and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East may necessitate a rate hike in September, which is widely expected by investors.
