Warsh Warns of Lingering Inflation Concerns Amid Robust U.S. Economy
U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh emphasized that the central bank's primary focus should be on prices, as inflation remains above its target of 2 percent.
Speaking at the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium, Warsh noted that 'the numbers are more concerning' when it comes to price stability, citing the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index.
The PCE price index rose by a seasonally adjusted 0.2 percent for the month, exceeding expectations, while core PCE inflation remained steady at 3.3 percent year-over-year.
Warsh also highlighted the robust state of the broader U.S. economy, but stressed that the Fed will remain 'keenly focused on market internals' and performance across various sectors.
