The US Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh emphasized that the central bank will have 'work to do' if inflation remains elevated, citing its mandate to keep underlying inflation in check.

Warsh made these remarks at the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium in Wyoming, where he expressed his concerns about inflation running above the Fed's 2 percent target.

'We must be confident that underlying inflation is moving to our objective, clearly and at sufficient speed. Otherwise, we have work to do,' Warsh said, reiterating the Fed's commitment to its mandate.

He also hinted at a possible interest rate hike, stating that the 'predominant focus right now should be on prices.'
