Warsh's Hawkish Signals Leave Dollar at Crossroads as Rate Hike Looms

The US dollar's prospects are uncertain due to Kevin Warsh's mixed signals. At Jackson Hole, he sounded hawkish, but his comments were not entirely clear-cut.

Warsh suggested that current interest rates may be doing less to restrain economic growth than they did in the past. This has increased the likelihood of a Fed rate hike in September to 66%.

Treasury yields have reached their highest levels since mid-2008, with 30-year Treasury yields at a 19-year high. Goldman Sachs argues that these elevated levels are driven by longer-term trends and not necessarily a cause for concern.
