Warsh's Inflation Plan Lacks Key Details
Kevin Warsh will take the podium for the second time as Fed Chairman on Wednesday, following the conclusion of the Federal Reserve's policy-setting meeting. His commitment to getting inflation under control has been a recurring theme in his statements, but what that means remains unclear due to his decision to abandon forward guidance.
Claudia Sahm, chief economist at New Century Advisors, expressed concerns about Warsh's approach, suggesting that he may be avoiding essential details. 'Unfortunately, Kevin Warsh has seemed to lump taking away forward guidance into taking away the reaction function,' she said.
Sahm emphasized the importance of knowing contingency plans, including what data are being considered and how rates will be adjusted. This information would provide clarity on the Fed's evaluation process and timeline for action.
