The Federal Reserve's annual Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium is taking place this week in Wyoming, and the main event will be Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's speech on Friday. Central bankers from around the world have gathered for the conference, which has historically been used as a way to forecast the Fed's longer-term plans. However, economists are aware that Warsh is not known for revealing much about the Fed's plans.

Economists David Kelly and Carola Binder expressed their hopes for clarity on various topics. Kelly wants to know how the Fed thinks about inflation rates, economic growth, and interest rates. Binder is interested in hearing more about some task forces that Warsh created earlier this year, particularly one focused on improving data quality.

Former Fed economist Claudia Sahm notes that past Fed chairs have used their Jackson Hole speeches as an opportunity to reveal their approach to being chair. She hopes that Warsh will do the same and provide insight into his decision-making process.
