Warsh's Low-Key Approach Expected to Continue at Jackson Hole

The annual Jackson Hole central banking conference kicked off in Wyoming on Friday, and all eyes are on US Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh. The Fed chief will deliver his first speech at the event, traditionally a platform for monetary policy watchers to gauge the direction of interest rates.

Warsh has been tight-lipped since taking office in May, refusing to provide guidance on interest rates or share his views on the economic outlook and inflation challenges. His predecessor, Gregory Daco, expects Warsh's speech to focus on reforming the Fed regime and correcting past mistakes, rather than offering concrete policy solutions.

Despite robust growth in the US economy, fueled by a 3.7% inflation rate above the Fed's 2% target, some Fed members have called for raising interest rates to tackle the crisis. Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack argued that 'now is the time to act' and raised concerns about the impact of prolonged inflation on individuals and businesses.
