Warsh's Policy Roadmap Takes Center Stage as Fed Holds Rates Steady

The Federal Reserve maintained its benchmark fed funds rate range at 3.50%-3.75% for a sixth consecutive meeting, leaving markets to await a clearer policy roadmap from Chair Kevin Warsh.

The decision was made after a pre-meeting setup that had assigned roughly a 65% probability of a hold and 35% odds of a quarter-point increase, according to CME FedWatch data.

This unusual setup marks a departure from the traditional practice of communicating policy direction to markets. Warsh has been openly critical of the Fed's use of forward guidance and the quarterly 'dot plot', leading investors to closely watch his post-meeting press conference for signs of change in the central bank's communication strategy.
