Warsh's Press Conference Sparks Rate Hike Fears

JPMorgan economists criticized Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's recent FOMC performance, saying his lack of forward guidance and shifting inflation targets created uncertainty that destabilized bond markets.

The incident was described as the most troubling since 2012, with economists concerned about the central bank's inflation-fighting credibility.

JPMorgan economist Michael Feroli expects the Federal Reserve to prioritize its inflation-fighting mandate, leading him to forecast a 25-basis-point rate hike in December or even as early as September.

The market reaction was immediate, with bond markets selloff and the 30-year Treasury yield reaching its highest level since 2007.
