Warsh's Task Forces Lack Public Voices Amid Alarming Consumer Signals

Kevin Warsh, Chair of the Federal Reserve, has created various task forces as part of his campaign to remake the central bank. However, a notable absence from these groups is representation from regular people or labor organizations.

This oversight has led some to suggest that the Fed doesn't need a new task force to hear from the public, it just needs to listen to the Americans they're already talking to. Unfortunately, the signals being sent by consumers are not very encouraging: consumer resilience is being purchased through costly adjustments, a 'stable' labor market that workers experience as survival, and early signs of wages chasing prices.
