Warsh's Tone Shift Raises Independence Concerns at the Fed
Kevin Warsh's appointment as Fed Chair raised eyebrows on Wall Street in July 2026. Back in April, when his nomination was being considered by the Senate, Warsh had pledged to act independently of President Donald Trump. He responded to a question from Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana, 'absolutely not,' when asked if he would be Trump's 'sock puppet.'
Warsh struck a hawkish note at his first press conference in June, but his tone began to change soon after.
