Weekend Momentum Lost: Markets Cautious Ahead of US Inflation Data
The start of the week has been marked by a lackluster performance in markets. The yen took a hit, falling back against the dollar with USD/JPY up 0.7% to 158.85. However, the dollar itself remained relatively unchanged against other major currencies.
Oil prices are slightly higher due to ongoing US-Iran developments, with WTI crude up 1.6% to $79.43 on the day. But despite this, broader markets remain cautious ahead of Wednesday's US CPI report for July.
The precious metals space is mixed, with gold down 0.2% to $4,333 and silver up 0.8% to $64.06.
