White House Revives Bid to Oust Fed Governor Lisa Cook
U.S. President Donald Trump's administration has renewed its effort to fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook after a setback from the Supreme Court.
The move comes after the high court refused to intervene in Cook's appointment, allowing her confirmation to move forward.
Cook was nominated for a 14-year term on the Fed's Board of Governors in May. The Senate confirmed her by a vote of 51-50, with Vice President Kamala Harris casting the tie-breaking vote.
The White House had previously attempted to fire Cook, but the Supreme Court stayed its hand, allowing Cook to remain in her position pending further review.
It is unclear what the next steps will be for the Trump administration in its bid to remove Cook from office.
