White House Revives Mortgage Fraud Claims Against Fed Governor Lisa Cook
The White House has renewed its push to oust Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook over allegations of mortgage fraud, sending her a formal notice on Wednesday that resurrects claims she has denied since last year.
The move comes six weeks after the Supreme Court's 5-4 ruling that blocked Cook's immediate dismissal, with Chief Justice John Roberts noting in a footnote that nothing prevented Trump from 'trying again' provided Cook received proper notice and a meaningful opportunity to contest the allegations.
The fraud allegations center on mortgage applications Cook signed before joining the Fed's Board of Governors, with White House aide Dan Scavino stating in a letter that the president is 'considering removing you from your position.'
