Won-Dollar Rate Surges to 1,418.4 as Fed Rate Hike Chances Diminish
The South Korean won appreciated against the US dollar at the end of the week, closing at 1,418.4 won on August 10th.
This represents a slight increase of 2.3 won (0.16%) from the previous trading day's close.
The exchange rate opened at 1,413 won and initially fell to 1,408.8 won around 9:03 am before rebounding to reach its weekly high of 1,418.8 won at 3:28 pm.
The recent decline in the exchange rate is attributed to a lower likelihood of interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve, which would weaken the dollar and lead to a decrease in the won-dollar rate.
