Won Surges to 23-Month High on Strong Economic Indicators
The South Korean won (KRW) has reached its highest value against the US dollar in 23 months, rising by 13% to 1,350.4 KRW per USD as of September 4. This significant increase is a result of the country's improving economic indicators and foreign exchange market stability.
The strengthening of the won comes ahead of Chuseok, one of South Korea's most important traditional holidays, which typically sees an influx of foreign tourists and increased demand for currency exchange services.
