Yen Consolidates Near 159.25 After Rare Joint US-Japan Intervention
The Japanese Yen has been consolidating near the 159.25 level against the US Dollar after a sharp upward push, following a joint intervention by Japanese authorities and the United States.
This rare coordinated action is seen as a significant development in the foreign exchange market, with analysts from UOB and DBS Group Research providing insights into its impact on the Yen's value.
According to Quek Ser Leang and Lee Sue Ann at UOB, the pair is expected to remain contained within a higher range of 157.00 to 160.20, anchored by key moving average support, with any advance likely part of this wider range.
DBS Group Research's Chang Wei Liang highlights that the joint intervention has narrowed the Yen's undervaluation and stabilized regional FX markets, particularly for the South Korean Won and Chinese Renminbi.
