Yen Falls to Upper 158 Range Against Dollar in Sydney
The Japanese yen traded in the upper range of 158 against the US dollar in the Sydney foreign exchange market on February 21st. At 8:30 a.m. local time, the indicative quote stood at 158.98-98 yen, down from the previous day's 158.03-08 yen.
The Australian dollar rose against the yen to 113.10-11 yen, up from 112.64-65 yen the previous day. The Aussie also traded at 0.7114-7114 US dollars, slightly weaker than 0.7125-7126 US dollars on the prior day.
The New Zealand dollar and euro also rose against the yen, with the kiwi trading at 94.50-53 yen and the euro at 185.72-76 yen. The broad-based selling of the yen across cross-yen pairs suggests a soft market for the Japanese currency in Tokyo.
