Yen Holds Steady as Euro Surges Against Yen and Dollar

The Japanese yen traded in the lower 159 range against the U.S. dollar on August 14th, according to early Sydney foreign exchange trading data.

At 8:30 a.m. local time, the indicative quote stood at 159.51-52 per dollar, slightly weaker than the 159.42-43 level seen at the same time the previous day.

The Australian dollar rose against the yen to 112.61-64 yen from 112.57-58 yen the prior day, while the New Zealand dollar traded broadly sideways against both the yen and the dollar.
