Yen Jumps to Seven-Month High on BOJ Rate Hike Speculation
The Japanese yen has reached its strongest level in seven months against the US dollar as speculation grows about an impending interest rate hike by the Bank of Japan.
The currency's surge comes amid a shift in market sentiment, with traders moving away from short positions and anticipating changes in monetary policy.
The yen climbed to 153.53 per dollar during morning trading on Tuesday, surpassing levels reached during Japan's July intervention and marking its strongest performance since February.
This uptrend added to the yen's 1.2% gain on Monday, influenced by a US holiday, and has now appreciated nearly 4% from around 160 yen per dollar just last week.
