Yen Rallies to Six-Month Highs Amid Expectations of Steeper BoJ Rate Hikes
The Japanese Yen has seen a significant surge in value against the US Dollar, hitting fresh six-month highs near 154.06 amid growing expectations of steeper interest rate hikes from the Bank of Japan.
According to Danske Bank analysts, Takuji Aida, economic adviser to PM Takaichi and a vocal opponent of BoJ rate hikes, now expects the central bank to raise rates at its upcoming meeting in late September, followed by another hike in January next year.
This shift in policy expectations has led to a notable rotation from US Treasuries into Japan's government bond market, which is seen as a supportive medium-term factor for the Yen.
