The Japanese yen is holding steady at around the key level of 160 per dollar, prompting investors to keep an eye out for potential intervention from officials in the foreign-exchange market.

As of Wednesday's session, the yen was trading at 159.45 per dollar at 1:31 p.m. in New York, representing a 0.1% dip from its previous value.

The currency has depreciated by more than 1% in August, partially reversing some of the efforts made by the US and Japan to strengthen the yen at the start of the month.
