Yen Strengthens as Oil Prices Drop After US-Iran Strike Pause
The Japanese Yen (JPY) strengthened against the US Dollar (USD) on Monday as oil prices dropped following the US decision to pause strikes against Iran. The USD/JPY pair traded around 163.60 during Asian hours, down from its previous level due to the JPY's support from lower oil prices.
The United States' decision to refrain from striking Iran over the weekend, coupled with Tehran suspending its own retaliatory strikes, contributed to a decrease in risk aversion. This led to a fall in the US Dollar (USD) against the Japanese Yen (JPY).
Japan's economy is heavily dependent on Middle Eastern oil imports, making it sensitive to supply disruptions and swings in crude prices.
