Yen Surges Against Dollar Amid Hawkish BOJ Comments and US-Iran Tensions
The Japanese yen has seen a sharp increase against the US dollar after losing some of its gains following a joint intervention by the U.S. and Japan at the end of July.
Before the intervention, the yen had dropped to a 40-year low of 163.98 per dollar but rose as high as 155.21 afterwards.
The yen's current price is 158.92 per dollar, representing a gain of 0.79% since the intervention.
Analysts are divided on whether this move is an official intervention or simply a rate check, with some speculating that it could be a sign of hawkish monetary policy in Japan.
