Yen Surges to Seven-Month High Amid Tightening Expectations
The yen has strengthened to its highest point in seven months, driven by expectations that the Bank of Japan will implement tighter monetary policies and Japanese investors may shift their funds back home.
The US dollar was last trading at 154.58 yen, down over 1% from earlier levels and marking its lowest value since February. This comes after falling below its August lows following a joint intervention by the US and Japan to support the yen.
Meanwhile, the euro has also declined against the yen, with its current exchange rate at 179.97, representing an 0.8% decrease.
