York Residents Overlook US-Canada Trade War in Favor of Local Concerns

In York, Pennsylvania, residents are more concerned with day-to-day issues than the ongoing trade war between the US and Canada. The city's economy is driven by manufacturing, including a Harley-Davidson factory that employs over 1,000 people. However, despite being directly affected by the tariffs imposed by Ottawa, many locals have not heard about or do not care about the trade dispute.

According to local residents, they are more focused on issues like rising living costs and violence in schools. Yesenia Orr, a mother of four who works as a security monitor at a high school, expressed her concerns about the impact of the tariffs on the community, but also highlighted the need for politicians to address youth-related issues.

Harley-Davidson's sales to Canadian customers have decreased by 9.3% in 2025 compared to the previous year, according to the company's annual report. However, motorcyclist Lance Oliver pointed out that motorcycles represent a 'tiny amount of U.S.-Canada trade.'
