$1 Billion Private Debt Deal Fuels Nvidia GPU Deployment for Microsoft
Lambda, an AI cloud provider backed by Nvidia, has secured $1 billion in short-term private debt to purchase graphics processing units (GPUs) for a deal with Microsoft.
The funding is earmarked for Nvidia GPUs that will support Lambda's existing agreement with Microsoft, which involves deploying tens of thousands of Nvidia GPUs to power AI infrastructure.
JPMorgan Chase arranged the transaction and marketed it to private placement investors. The short-dated structure of the debt signals that Lambda expects to deploy the chips quickly and begin generating lease revenue fast enough to service the loan through operational cash flow.
This is not the only recent financing secured by Lambda; the company closed a $926 million senior secured term loan B facility earlier this month, and also has a $1 billion secured credit facility from May. The latest deal lands as Lambda is reportedly in discussions to raise up to $3 billion in a pre-IPO funding round.
