$146.7 Million Fee Award to Law Firms in Google Privacy Case
A California federal court has ruled that three law firms will receive $146.7 million in attorneys' fees for their work in a high-stakes privacy class action against Google LLC.
The award, made last Friday, amounts to one-third of the total $440 million judgment against Google, which was handed down after a jury found that Google had violated the privacy rights of 98 million users who had turned off a privacy toggle called the 'Google Privacy Button'.
The case, which spanned nearly six years, involved Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, Susman Godfrey LLP, and Morgan & Morgan working on contingency. The firms convinced a jury that Google had indeed breached user privacy.
