$146.8M Fee Award for Attorneys in Google Location Data Case
A California federal judge has awarded plaintiffs' attorneys $146.8 million in fees after securing a $425 million jury verdict against Google LLC in a privacy class action covering about 98 million people.
The fee award represents one-third of the total damages, which the judge described as 'extraordinary' but justified given the attorneys' 'exemplary performance.'
The case involved allegations that Google had collected and used location data from users without their consent. The jury verdict was handed down in August 2026.
