1970s Sodas Worth Bringing Back
The soda section of grocery stores may be crowded with current flavors and upcoming releases, but some classic sodas from the 1970s could use a comeback. Brands like Teem, Barq's Grape, and Aspen soda have been lost to time, but their unique flavor profiles make them worth revisiting.
Tab, introduced by Coca-Cola in 1963, was one of the first sugar-free sodas on the market. Although it contained saccharine, a sweetener later linked to potential cancer risks, Tab remained popular throughout the decade. Its reputation suffered when saccharine was banned in 1981, but the brand continued to evolve with new formulas.
Aspen, from PepsiCo, was another short-lived but intriguing soda from the 1970s. Launched in 1978 as a unique apple-flavored drink, Aspen aimed to appeal to more discerning palates. Although it didn't stick around long enough for a proper re-launch, its legacy lives on among fans who still yearn for its crisp, green taste.
