$1M Federal Funding Secured for Cochise County Sheriff's Department
U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ) secured $1 million for the Cochise County Sheriff's Department as part of $42.7 million in Community Project Funding requests across his Arizona district.
The funding will improve communications systems for drone operations, search-and-rescue command and control, and high-definition video surveillance.
Ciscomani visited the Cochise County Sheriff's Office on August 26 to discuss the project with local law enforcement officials.
The mobile trailers equipped with 5G data and P25-compliant radio coverage will help deputies stay connected without building permanent infrastructure.
The investment is expected to save the department approximately $140,000 in annual communications costs.
