$20 Billion Milestone for Caterpillar in Record-Breaking Quarter

Caterpillar has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing $20 billion in quarterly sales for the first time. The company's revenue for the second quarter of 2026 reached $20.5 billion, a 24% increase from the same period in 2025 and the first quarter to exceed this threshold.

The growth is attributed to higher sales volume of $3.1 billion and favorable price realization of $595 million, as well as strong order rates and a growing backlog across Caterpillar's three primary segments. This performance led to an operating profit margin of 20.9% for the quarter, compared to 17.3% in the same period last year.

Caterpillar's chairman and chief executive, Joe Creed, highlighted the significance of this achievement, stating, 'This is the first time in company history that we have generated over $20 billion in sales and revenues in a single quarter.'
