21-Foot-Wide RC Boeing C-17 Takes Flight with Landing Gear Stuck Down
A massive remote-controlled Boeing C-17 Globemaster, built by Ramy RC, took to the sky in a breathtaking sunset flight. The model aircraft measures 21 feet wide and weighs 330 pounds, far too large for a standard flying field.
The flight was remarkable due to the model's extensive lighting system and deployed landing gear, which had stayed down due to a faulty servo. Despite this limitation, the team managed to complete the flight, changing their plans to accommodate the added drag caused by the extended undercarriage.
Ramy RC's owner and pilot, Tyler Perry, spent five months building the scale model, with the project reaching its final stages in 2023. The maiden flight occurred on February 17 this year, marking an impressive milestone for the team.
