$2.3 Billion Valuation for Starcloud as Space-Based Computing Gains Momentum
Starcloud, a startup developing data centers in space, has secured $250 million in funding at a valuation of $2.3 billion.
The investment was led by Manhattan West and included participation from Nvidia and Cisco Investments, as well as existing backers Benchmark, EQT, and Soma.
Starcloud plans to use the funds to expand its manufacturing capabilities, secure critical components, and collaborate with Nvidia on hardware development that can withstand radiation and temperature fluctuations in space.
The startup aims to establish a network of satellites hosting computing power above Earth, supported by a 100,000-square-foot facility in Washington state for its next-generation spacecraft.
